Rotating Tower

Rotating Tower

The rotating towers are mainly divided into two types: amusement park ride equipment and architectural rotating towers (such as the Da Vinci Rotating Tower in Dubai). This classification helps you distinguish and understand their technologies, experiences, and application scenarios.
Amusement park rotating towers (rotating lift towers / rotating roller coaster)
Definition and classification: They belong to large special equipment of the flight tower category, which is a combined high-altitude amusement facility that integrates vertical ascent + 360° smooth rotation. They are commonly called space shuttles or rotating bouncing towers; there are two types: gentle sightseeing type and the thrilling type with rapid descent; they are more popular among the general public than pure roller coaster machines.
Core structure and operation.
The main body is a tall steel structure column, with a rotating circular seat cabin at the top / middle; they mostly use hydraulic / mechanical drive + slewing bearings, with smooth ascent and the ability to briefly stop at the top for sightseeing, and some models have segmented rapid descent to bring a slight feeling of weightlessness; the cabin is equipped with automatic safety pressure bars + safety belts for double restraint.
Common specifications: Height 25–50m, occupying an area of approximately 9×11m, seat cabin capacity 16–32 people; many have LED dynamic colored lights at night, making them the landmark night-time equipment of the park.

Safety and Operation: Manufactured and inspected in accordance with national special equipment standards; equipped with multiple redundant protections (backup braking, buffer cylinder, rope-breaking protection, interlock monitoring); requires regular annual inspections and daily maintenance; suitable for core areas of large and medium-sized theme parks and cultural tourism scenic spots.
Experience Features: As you ascend, the view gradually broadens; rotation provides a 360° panoramic view; the feeling of weightlessness during descent is controllable, balancing excitement and sightseeing attributes, suitable for teenagers and adult families.
Architectural Rotating Tower (Dubai Da Vinci Rotating Tower)
Design Background: Designed by David Fisher, planned to be a 420-meter, 80-story independent rotating skyscraper in Dubai, also known as "Dancing Skyscraper", it is the world's first dynamic building powered mainly by wind energy.
Core Innovation
Each floor can rotate slowly 360° (about 1–3 hours per rotation), with the shape constantly changing; the central fixed concrete core column bears the load, and the floor units are prefabricated and assembled (85% factory prefabricated).
79 carbon fiber wind turbines are installed between each floor, combined with rotatable solar panels, achieving self-sufficiency in energy and being able to supply power to the grid.
The plan includes office areas, a seven-star hotel, luxury apartments, and a penthouse villa, with a special express elevator directly connecting to the apartments.
